Isabel is a recovering middle child dissecting social systems that parentify our eldest daughters and make women engage in cult-like activities.

     Isabel Rodriguez is a director and theatre artist from Southern California. Select credits: PERFORMING FILIPINA, DIGGING (The Fire This Time), Bruised. (The Fire This Time/FrigidNYC), Someone Like Me (Empty Room), GIRL BOSS (24 Hour Plays), LASTHUNTER (Williamstown), Radial Gradient (Lime Arts), The Party Clown (Larking House). 

She has developed work through workshops and productions at New York City Center Encores!, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Kennedy Center, Cygnet Theatre, San Diego Musical Theatre, Leviathan Lab, and Larking House. She has served as assistant director to Michael Arden, Lear deBessonet, Ralph B. Peña, Danya Taymor, Robby Lutfy, and Tommy Statler.

Fellowships: 2024 New York City Center Encores! Directing Fellow, 2022 J Michael Friedman Fellow at Williamstown, 2021 Bill Foeller Directing Fellow at Williamstown, 2020 SDC Directing Fellow at KCACTF, The Kennedy Center's BIPOC Critics Lab, The 24 Hour Plays National cohort and United AAPI Artists. Guest host of Token Theatre Friends, A Critical Ecosystem (Kennedy Center), and INTER-RACED podcast. 
     Isabel aims to confront the surviving effects of Asian mysticism in America, conceptualizing Asian-American experiences with new and existing scripts. BA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Stage Directing from Cal State Fullerton. Educational directing workshops include Mourning Becomes Electra, All My Sons, Misalliance, Much Ado About Nothing, Phoebe in Winter, and Poppy.

         Isabel lives in San Diego with her partner and a corn snake named Cheese. Outside of theatre, Isabel is a longboard dancer and a lead for DocksessionSD, a global skate community.
